Judge John Downey precinct chair with his vice chair Stan Fitzgerald were invited to Acworth Georgia city hall to meet with Mayor Tommy Allegood for campaign strategy as Democrats were also targeting smaller seats. Downey and Fitzgerald went over the stats and strategy with the mayor. Allegood won his re-election bid.
Downey worked with Larry Kudlow of the Trump administration on the legal challenge efforts after the 2020 election and was asked to be serve as alternate elector January 6th in DC. Downey was unfoundedly targeted in the grand jury probe of all who served as alternate electors.
